Before You Buy

eKnitter completely replaces the original Brother electronics.
Your original memory is not required.

Your machine must be mechanically functional — especially the needle selection mechanism and carriage movement.
If your machine has previously knitted correctly but the electronics no longer work, it is usually an ideal candidate for eKnitter.

Installation

Installation is straightforward and fully reversible.
eKnitter mounts inside your machine using existing screw points — no drilling or permanent modification required.

We recommend using a modern external power supply (not included).
eKnitter can also operate with the original internal power supply if it is still functional.

DesignaKnit Compatibility

eKnitter works on its own — you can start knitting right away with the built-in WebApp.

If you already use DesignaKnit 9 (version 9.14.01 or later), eKnitter connects directly.

If you’re just getting started and later want to level up to professional knitwear design software, eKnitter is already prepared.
You can add DesignaKnit at any time — no special cables, adapters, or hardware changes are needed. You only need to purchase the DesignaKnit software.

DesignaKnit is a separate software product and is not included with eKnitter.

When connected, DesignaKnit enables fully interactive knitting and automatically recognizes when you start knitting, the direction of your carriage, and the current row.

Is it difficult to install?
No. Most people manage with the step-by-step guide. If you get stuck, we’re available in live chat — and in rare cases, we’ve even helped via Zoom.

I’m new to machine knitting — will I manage?
Yes. Just load one of the included patterns, follow the quick-start, and you can knit your first sample the same day.

Does it work with double bed / jacquard / circular knitting?
Yes. Both single and double bed techniques are supported.

Does it keep working if my Wi-Fi or laptop disconnects?
Yes. Your pattern is stored on the eKnitter board, so knitting continues without interruption.

Is this just a DIY hack?
No. eKnitter is a professionally built hardware upgrade — CE/FCC tested, Wi-Fi enabled, and designed for long-term use. It even includes an SD card slot, ready for future updates.

Do I need DesignaKnit to use eKnitter?

No. You can start knitting right away with the included Windows app and pattern library.

In addition, our new eKnitter WebApp is included for every user, so you can also use eKnitter from a Mac, tablet, or phone from the very beginning.

DesignaKnit is separate software and is not included with eKnitter.
However, eKnitter is fully compatible with DesignaKnit via Wi-Fi, which means you don’t need a additional cable for interactive knitting.

Am Ende funktioniert alles super.Die Einbauanleitungen und Videos sind noch etwas verwirrend. Mit DK9 klappt er auch hervorragend. Das die Webapp noch nicht vollendet ist merkt man schon,aber das ist für mich in Ordnung. Alles in allem eine tolle Sache. Wenn die Webapp weiter ausgebaut ist und vielleicht ein bisschen die Installationsinformationen überarbeitet würde ich auch 5 Smiley geben🤗

Jeanette was so patient and helpful as I worked through mechanical and power issues that had nothing to do with the eKnitter board. My jaw dropped when everything came together and the machine selected the proper needles from the file downloaded via wi-fi. Jeanette is amazing and so is eKnitter!
