After our eKnitter working perfectly for a few months it has now stopped knitting entire sections of patterns for select needles for both the K and G carriages. The sections follow a stripe pattern across the knit.

Oh this seems quite strange. To better understand your issue, please install Wireshark. We use this software to gain deeper insights into your eKnitter and diagnose what might be happening. I also wrote you a PM, check your profile here on the eKnitter page.

Issue Resolution:

Identify the Problem: The malfunction involves a damaged Darling Array, typically due to a short circuit.

Test the Darling Arrays: Follow these steps to check if the Darling Arrays are functioning correctly:

  1. Knit a row with all needles active.
  2. Knit the next row with no needles active. Repeat these steps. A consistent pattern of 8 active needles followed by 8 inactive ones indicates that one Darling Array may need replacement.

Safety First: Before any repairs begin, disconnect the eKnitter from the machine to prevent electrical hazards.

Replace the Component: The Darling Array is simply pluged into the board. You will need the STMicroelectronics ULN2803A Darlington Array in a DIP-18 package, available at most electronics retailers. But you can also contact us for more details.

Preventive Measure: To prevent similar issues and for safty, always operate the machine with the case closed! This precaution helps avoid accidental damage like short circuits, ensuring the machine's proper functionality and safety.
